The Clinical Research Manager provides leadership, tactical management, and administration for the Division of Pediatrics Hematology/Oncology clinical research team, in collaboration with physician investigators. Oversees and participates in the conduct of clinical trials, the protection of human subjects, and the use of information technology systems. The Clinical Research Manager will participate in hospital clinical research manager projects/activities, including Council of Clinical Research Professionals (CoCRP). Supports physicians in effectively and efficiently coordinating and streamlining all research related processes. Designs and implements training programs to assure ethical, regulatory, and protocol compliance by research staff and efficient use of database technology, e.g., electronic case report forms and remote data entry.
Serves as the key operational interface between the community practice, industry or federal funding agency, and the research team. Develops, supervises, and implements clinical research protocols and programs. The candidate will be a proven leader with strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop and support an effective team, able to work proactively and independently with strong organizational skills. In-depth knowledge with clinical research practices and principles is also required. Master’s degree with 2 years of experience or Bachelor’s degree required 6 years of relevant work experience. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Current licensure to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required. Flexible hours (day light, some evenings, and weekends) may be necessary. This position is located at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment.
