Job Duties

Reporting to the Director of Planning in the Office of University Planning (OUP), the Campus Architect will:
– assist in implementing the planning component of capital projects for OUP
– assist in providing assurance that facility and space needs are being met by participating in capital program planning
– assist in establishing design and planning standards for the university
– work towards the enhancement of accessibility as it relates to the physical campus
– assist both the Assistant Vice President for Planning and the Director in the development, review, and approval of campus planning and feasibility projects

– Ability to rely on experience and judgment to accomplish tasks
– Excellent communications skills, including negotiation
– Ability to work in and develop a team atmosphere and provide superior client services in a diverse environment

Required Qualifications

– Advanced degree in Architecture, or BS in Architecture and work experience equivalent to an advanced degree
– Registration or demonstrated ability to be registered as a Professional Architect in Virginia within 12 months of employment
– Considerable experience as an architect
– Considerable experience as a project manager
– Must have a valid driver’s license
– Proficiency with current office computer software including word processing and spreadsheets
– Proficient in the use of design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
