California State University, Dominguez Hills, was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University system. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of over 12,500 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. The University, with its five Academic Colleges, has more than 300 full-time faculty members and is situated in an area characterized by an extraordinary heterogeneity of people, and an extensive array of high technology industries and professional services.
Under direct supervision of the Director or Associate Director of Admissions, the incumbent will perform the following: coordinate application processing for admissions, with particular attention to applications from Athletes; development and presentation of multiple information sessions; attend multiple meetings in various departments; evaluation of records for admission eligibility and credit toward degrees; interpret and apply provisions of Title V of California administrative code and University policies relating to admission and NCAA guidelines; analyzes the academicrecords of first-time undergraduate and graduate applicants; evaluate transfer credit for undergraduate degrees and specialized programs; determine eligibility for admission; advise applicants, students and faculty on state and university requirements for degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level; monitor the flow of applicant files throughout the admissions process; and, perform other related duties as may be assigned. Incumbent will also perform basic duties related to the recruitment and enrollment of K-16 students, including meeting prospective students to provide general information, reviewing students transcripts to determine admissions eligibility, gather and provide general campus information to students about campus programs, assist with events and campus tours as well as new student orientation. Incumbent may be required to work extended hours and/or Saturdays as part of your job description.
Knowledge of general office procedures, methods, and practices; knowledge of techniques used in processing information.
Ability to check complex records and detailed information for compliance with criteria; ability to be thorough and accurate in comparing records; ability to interpret and apply written regulations; and ability to maintain confidentiality of records and evaluations.
During training, the following knowledge and abilities must be acquired: ability to review and check transcripts, records and documents for compliance with criteria using specific guides; ability to interpret information from a variety of institutions, including foreign institutions with differing records systems; ability to interpret criteria for determining eligibility and substitutions or alternatives in granting credit for degrees.
Equivalent to six months responsible experience involving academic, administrative, fiscal or statistical records processing and maintenance, OR two years of full-time college with course work specific to development of quantitative and analytical skills
