Richard Minturn
Senior Academic Facility Planner
University of Virginia
Charlottesville, VAWorking within the Provost’s organization at UVA, Richard S. Minturn AIA is Senior Academic Facility Planner. He works with the University’s 11 Schools to link academic strategies with their plans for space and capital projects. His work includes organizing the capital plan of the academic units, serving on the teams for major projects and policy development for space governance. Challenges in 2019 include a renovation and addition to the main research Library, a new School of Data Science facility, and a major new building for the McIntire School of Commerce. He has presented at SCUP’s National and Mid-Atlantic Regional Conferences, most recently in 2019 on a Student-Led project to plan a Student Activities Building. Before coming to UVA in 2000, he practiced Architecture in Boston.
