Vision Statement:
In pursuit of fulfilling SCUP’s strategic plan to advance institutional resilience through integrated planning, I offer:
Geographic perspective: Being a transplant to St. Louis and the Midwest nearly 30 years ago has brought an outsider’s perspective to the region’s many gifts, challenges, and opportunities. Having either visited or worked with many institutions within the region brings specific knowledge of the many varied contexts those institutions operate within.
Story-telling & advocacy: In my professional capacity, one of my strengths is the ability to communicate. I enjoy the cheerleading that goes into advocacy for a specific cause or set of causes. Outside my day job, I have contributed time as a community activist towards historic preservation, affordable housing, and community revitalization. I have seen how tireless advocacy can create momentum in turning ideas to reality and stand ready to help share SCUP’s gospel with the world.
Giving back: To shape environments geared towards preparing individuals for future success is a special calling. In this way, I feel privileged to have had a fulfilling career as planner and architect focused on serving the needs of higher ed. I am grateful to SCUP for the many opportunities for enrichment and learning, which have help propel my growth as planner and designer and look to give back to SCUP so that others may someday walk this walk.
SCUP Volunteer Activities:
My SCUP membership commenced in 2007. Within my 17 years of SCUP membership I have served as a session convener (2016 & 2014) and most recently as a proposal reviewer for both national and regional SCUP conferences.
Other Professional Volunteer Activities:
My professional volunteer activities have focused on community design and the built environment, including advocacy for historic preservation, urban revitalization, land planning, affordable housing, social justice and education.
