General Information
Build your higher education planning skills in one of two intensive programs offered at the 2003 SCUP January Workshops: Integrated Planning and Budgeting, or Space Management: A Primer on the Tools and Issues in Higher Education Space Management. These programs are designed to be highly interactive, refine your set of skills, and to develop your ability to respond effectively to a rapidly changing world. Select a workshop in your discipline, or expand your knowledge in another planning areabefore you need it.
Participants in the Integrated Planning and Budgeting workshop will have a unique opportunity to engage in a highly respected learning module, including a case study, developed by the American Council on Education (ACE). ACE has granted SCUP permission to include the campus case study used annually in the ACE Fellows Program. The workshop is appropriate to planning professionals at all levelsfrom beginners to those who would like to refresh and/or better integrate that which they already know.
The popular Space Management workshop is designed for individuals who are new to the field and want a solid grounding in the area, or for those who want to build on their understanding of space management principles. This workshop is devoted exclusively to the exploration of issues and concepts of space management on the college campus.

About SCUP
The Society for College and University Planning is the leading organization focused on planning in higher education, at all levels and in all contexts. These educational offerings are an extension of SCUP's mission to promote the practice of comprehensive planning in higher education.
People who attend SCUP workshops and conferences are not just people who have planning in their titleor even in their job descriptionbut those who understand the "big picture" and view SCUP programs as a way to tap into larger campus planning issues. SCUP participants include a broad range of people in higher education who have a responsibility for, or interest in, campus planning.
Program Format and Information
Workshop size is limited to offer you the greatest opportunity for participation and dialogue with faculty and your colleagues. Resource notebooks and selected publications are provided to assist you during and after the workshop.
Participants will be asked to complete a brief survey prior to the workshops to assist faculty in understanding participants' needs. The final daily agenda will be available on SCUP's Web site at www.scup.org/workshops2003 in October, 2002.
On workshop days, registered attendees will be provided with a continental breakfast, refreshment breaks, and lunch. An informal welcome reception will be held on Saturday evening to allow people to meet and make plans for dinner. Participants in Intergrated Planning and Budgeting are required to be at their Saturday workshop orientation. Attire for the workshops is business casual; bring a sweater for the occasionally cool meeting room.
Plan to extend your visit to San Diego and explore the region's many cultural and recreational opportunities. Questions about the workshops or the format? Call SCUP's Professional Development office at +1.734.998.6966.
