Seeding Our Future: Integrated Planning in the Community College
In April of 2007, SCUP published a themed issue of its journal,
Planning for Higher Education (PHE), that is a larger-than-usual issue focused on two-year schools. It is available for purchase by
nonmembers in SCUP's online store and was mailed to each member—one of the many member benefits.
Portfolio: Planning in the Community College
A companion volume, available in SCUP's online store, is a compilation in PDF format only (no printed copies are available) of the articles and book reviews pertaining to planning in
community colleges that were published in Planning for
Higher Education (PHE) from 2000 through 2006.
Community Colleges and Technical Schools Knowledge Community
SCUP has a number of knowledge communities, which are Lyris email discussion
lists linking anywhere from 100 to 2,500 SCUP members and nonmembers with an interest in a particular topic. Each knowledge community links you to others with a shared
interest, enables queries and discussions should you wish, and will receive occasional news-related items from the SCUP office. Anyone may join and there is no fee.

American Association of Community Colleges (AACC)
"The American Association of Community Colleges is the primary advocacy organization for the nation's community colleges. The Association represents more than 1,100
associate degree-granting institutions and some 10 million students. Formed in 1920, AACC is a national voice for community colleges, which marked their 100th year of
service to the nation in 2001. AACC is leading the celebration of the colleges as they provide learning opportunities to their students and communities and the nation."
It publishes the

(biweekly).
Association of California Community College Administrators (ACCCA)
"[T]he foremost member-supported professional organization for administrators and managers of California's community college system—the largest
system of higher education in the world."
ACPA: College Student Educators International
ACPA has a
Commission on Student Development in the Two Year College: "The Commission for Student Development in the Two-Year College is directly concerned with issues
relative to student development programs in two-year institutions. The commission is designed to promomte the improvement of student development programs; enhance
the professional development of student development personnel; and serve as an advocate for student development programs in two-year institutions."
APPA
"APPA is the association of choice serving educational facilities professionals (formerly the Association of Physical Plant Administrators). APPA's membership
consists of more than 1,500 learning institutions encompassing over 4,700 individuals throughout the United States, Canada, and internationally." APPA's email
discussion list about campus facilities management issues is a very useful resource.
The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT)
The mission of ACCT is "[p]romoting effective board governance through advocacy and education."
Community College Baccalaureate Association (CCBA)
"The CCBA attempts to gather all published articles and legislation dealing with the community college baccalaureate degree. We also solicit copies of
unpublished materials related to this topic. We host an annual conference to share information and develop ways to promote the community college baccalaureate
degree to governors, state legislatures, national policy boards, and other appropriate persons and organizations."
Community College Business Officers (CCBO)
"CCBO is committed to providing educational and professional support, networking opportunities, and timely trend and demographic information for business officers
representing community colleges and community college system offices in the US and in Canada. The association works to help business officers better prepare for
successful professional roles in the business and service enterprise of the community college. CCBO recognizes that excellence in the profession sets the standard
for the future and strives to acknowledge those professionals who have excelled in the field."
CEFPI: The School Building Association
CEFPI predominantly works in and for K–12 systems, but CEFPI has plenty of useful resources suitable for community colleges.
Community College Humanities Association (CCHA)
"The Community College Humanities Association is the only national organization that exclusively serves to strengthen the humanities in the nation's community colleges."
Community College Leadership Program (CCLP)
"The CCLP, at the University of Texas at Austin, is a doctoral-level program training community college presidents, vice presidents, and deans for 60 years. More than
15 percent of the nation's presidents, vice presidents, and deans, as well as a healthy proportion of other college administrators, are UT-CCLP graduates."
Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO)
"The statewide Community College Public Relations Organization is a professional development and service organization that seeks to promote excellence in California's
community college public relations and related professions."
The Council for Resource Development (CRD)
The Council for Resource Development (CRD) is a national organization representing development officers and foundation executives at 1200 community colleges in the United States.
The League for Innovation in the Community College
The League's is the most user-friendly community college website, with the greatest number of useful resoures available to all: "The League
is an international organization dedicated to catalyzing the community college movement. We host conferences and institutes, develop Web resources,
conduct research, produce publications, provide services, and lead projects and initiatives with our member colleges, corporate partners, and other
agencies in our continuing efforts to make a positive difference for students and communities."
NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education
NASPA has a Community & Two-Year Colleges Knowledge Community. "NASPA, student affairs administrators in higher education, is the leading voice for student
affairs administration, policy and practice and affirms the commitment of student affairs to educating the whole student and integrating student life and learning.
With over 11,000 members at 1,200 campuses, and representing 29 countries, NASPA is the largest professional association for student affairs administrators, faculty
and graduate students. NASPA members are committed to serving college students by embracing the core values of diversity, learning, integrity, service, fellowship
and the spirit of inquiry."
National Institute for State and Organizational Development (NISOD)
"NISOD is the outreach vehicle and service arm to the Community College Leadership Program (CCLP)." It is "edicated to the professional development of faculty,
administrators, and staff; and to the continued improvement of teaching and learning, with the ultimate goal of student success."
The Research and Planning Group (RPG) for California Community Colleges
RPG is a wonderful organization of actively engaged members: "The RP Group is the organization representing California community college research and
planning professionals. The RP Group provides leadership in research, analysis, and planning issues for California community colleges. The RP Group also
provides support to California community college faculty and staff regarding research and planning issues through: training; keeping member colleges
informed; developing and disseminating new tools, methodologies and approaches; and providing opportunities for networking and sharing."
