GIS ANALYST
Capital Programs
$3,977–$5,665.50/Month

Notes: A career, full-time position. Schedule of hours is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Essential Functions: Under general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor and general supervision of the Campus Space Manager, the GIS Analyst position is responsible for providing support for UCR's GIS system as well as technical analysis. On an as needed basis, the GIS Analyst position supports the work of the Space Management Team, including use of the Facilities Management System, Facilities Inventory, and associated CAD drawings. GIS Analyst position will also support CPP staff through completion of ad hoc assignments to support the development of master planning and/or project proposals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, information systems, computer science, architecture, or related field.
  • Three years or more of GIS work experience using ESRI software to include designing, creating maintaining and analyzing geospatial and tabular data.
  • Strong writing skills to develop GIS documentation for technical and non-technical staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of cartographic principles, data management, metadata, digital map production, and quality assurance/quality control.
  • In-depth knowledge of ArcGIS 9, Microsoft Office 2000 and XP, Windows 2000 and XP.
  • Working knowledge of GPS technologies and associated software.
  • Basic knowledge of databases and Web based applications.
  • Excellent ability to develop and modify GIS databases and maps, incorporate drawings into other programs such as Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Hired applicant must successfully pass a background check through the Department of Justice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing GIS script and/or application programs.
  • Experience with enterprise geodatabases and ArcSDE.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, to include the ability to write system and training manuals, handbooks and work documentation.
  • Familiarity with campus or city planning, facilities inventory and management systems.
  • Knowledge and Experience using drafting programs such as AutoCAD.
