Workshops
Workshops are intensive educational opportunities presented on their own or in conjunction with SCUP's annual, international or regional conferences. They generally fall into one of two categories:
"Call for Proposals"
SCUP periodically sends out a "call for proposals" to elicit workshop presentations for either the annual, international conference or a regional conference. The submitted proposal is reviewed for acceptance for the event by the conference committee. If accepted, SCUP staff will assist you in the development of workshop content and materials. If not accepted, your proposal will receive beneficial feedback for improvement with the hope that you will be encouraged to submit your proposal to another SCUP conference to. You do not have to be from the region where the event will be held to submit a proposal.
SCUP Foundation Workshops
Workshops like the Planning Institute are developed in a collaboratory process between SCUP members and staff. This process is guided by the society's professional development committee (PDC). The foundation workshops fill a need as determined by the PDC and are delivered through volunteers selected through a faculty process. Volunteer faculty receive training in best practices of adult learning methods as well as technical training in digital tools, if needed. Many of the foundation workshops are developed to be a permanent part of SCUP's educational programming and may be scheduled annually over a three-year cycle or in multiple locations in the course of a year. |
