"Great, with a fantastic vision and message for the audience. Extremely thought provoking and challenging."
"Milliron's presentation was best due to its emphasis on the future and the need for higher education institutions to understand and create the intelligence they need for effective decision-making and meeting the needs of new learners."

Endorsed by the The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools

Technology. Enrollment. Globalization. Are you keeping up with it all? Take 90 minutes to ponder their impacts, as well as other trends, under the guidance of presenter Mark Milliron, an expert in technology and learning, and catalyzing innovation and excellence in higher education.

While some in higher education say it feels like we're at a crossroads, others tell us they feel like they're moving at full speed in the fast lane–and being pushed from behind! Between increasing globalization, expanding technology use, rising insight expectations, and an emerging education imperative, we have much to do to prepare for this journey. This presentation will try to begin this preparation by catalyzing key conversations about these and other hot topics, with a special focus on their possible impact on teaching, learning, student services, and leadership. Moreover, it will challenge us to tackle these topics with less hyperbole and more thoughtful explorations of the issues and opportunities coming our way in the months and years to come.

Discussion Areas

  • Changing enrollment patterns
  • The impact of globalization
  • Expanding partnerships across K–20 and with business and industry
  • New technologies to reach and teach students
  • Increased expectations for data-driven decision making and customized student learning and service engagement
  • The organizational cultural challenge of managing all of this change
