SCUP’s annual, international conference and idea marketplace is of much broader scope than campus heritage preservation, but the campus- and company-based professionals it draws make it likely to be the largest annual gathering of individuals with an interest in campus heritage preservation. The next such event is in Portland on July 18-22, SCUP—44: Values and Vision Create the Future The online archives of previous events contain many abstracts of campus heritage-related presentations.

College Town Life – The best single website for information and news about college or university community relations is College Town Life. Its perspective is primarily that of a community resident, rather than the college or the university, however there are many useful resources and links there for campus professionals.

Duke University's "Town & Gown" resources archive regarding relations between Duke and the City of Durham.

Great Universities, Great Cities: A Day of Convocation at Temple University, was held on March 23, 2007. The program for this event is available as a PDF.

Great Universities and Their Cities – In 2003, the investiture of Case Western Reserve University president Edward Hundert coincided with a CWRU symposium on Great Universities and their Cities. The CWRU alumni magazine reported on aspects of that symposium and serves up that content in a resource called "A Lesson In Three Acts," which includes narrative of the day, reporting on breakout sessions, and a Lessons Learned document.

SCUP's 43rd annual, international conference and idea marketplace in Montreal – This annual conference has a substantial percentage of sessions wherein professionals discuss planning and other matters that affect universities, colleges, and their communities.

Compact Current – The newsletter of Campus Compact is published quarterly and fully available on line.

The Chronicle of Higher Education - The weekly newspaper of record for higher education, which has a comprehensive website. Much of its content is accessible by registration only, although some requires purchase of a subscription or a temporary pass.

The Greentree Gazette – This monthly magazine is focused on financial issues in higher education. Some of its articles address community relations or public-private partnerships and the like. Some of its content is available on line, but most is not.

Related Groups/Organizations

Campus Compact: Educating Citizens. Building Communities. – "Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents — representing some 6 million students — dedicated to promoting community service, civic engagement, and service-learning in higher education." It has a set of nice, free resources on line as well as a series of for-sale publications.

Town & Gown Network – This organization grew out of a conference in Boulder, CO in 2006, then it had a conference in Gainesville, FL in 2007, and is holding its 2008 conference in College Station, TX. The website, which is quite new and just beginning to grow, includes articles and discussion forums.

Town and Gown Association of Ongario (TGAO) – "TGAO is dedicated to improving the quality of life in those municipalities that host post secondary institutions by promoting and supporting activities that ensure cohesive communities that are safe, healthy and enjoyable." It has more than 60 members, including some from the United States.
