Planning for Higher Education JournalPlanning for Higher Education invites well-written articles about important trends and issues that could influence academic planning and management, about novel or effective planning techniques, and about applied research of relevance to educational decision making. Reviews of books of interest to higher education planners are also welcome. Manuscript TypesFive manuscript types are welcomed for publishing in Planning:
SubmissionImportant: Please complete the online Planning for Higher Education Journal Manuscript Submission Form for each manuscript. All text and image submissions must be sent by email to the managing editor, managing.editor@scup.org. Manuscript submissions should be in Microsoft Word format. Manuscripts can be of any length, from a 1–2-page viewpoint, to a book-length manuscript. Please do not list any author names on the manuscript itself, for review purposes. Images (photographs, charts, tables, or maps) are encouraged. They should be numbered consecutively and be included in the emailed article submission. Images should be submitted as high-resolution (300 dpi) image files (TIFF or JPG). Color images are preferred. CitationsTo cite references and sources, use the author-date style, e.g., (Rose 2001), in the text and a list of all citations, alphabetically by author, at the end. For style in listing references, consult The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition. When possible, include citations to pertinent online resources. Be sure to proofread the article and to check the accuracy of assertions and documentation. Copyright and LicenseAn author whose contribution has been accepted for publication in Planning for Higher Education will sign an agreement allowing both SCUP and the contributor to reproduce, prepare derivative works from, and distribute, in all current and subsequent forms, the contributor’s work. For example, the contributor is free to publish the work or an adaptation of the work in a journal or magazine other than Planning for Higher Education. A contributor is also required to state that the author owns all rights to the work, that the work does not infringe on the copyright or other rights of any other person or entity. Peer ReviewFor authors who request peer review of their article (optional). Three members of the journal’s editorial review board will read submitted articles and make recommendations regarding rejection or acceptance. An editor then reviews the article and recommendations and, upon acceptance, may request that an author revise a manuscript before accepting it for publication. The executive editor reserves the right to reject manuscripts or to edit accepted articles to meet the journal’s standards. SCUP recognizes the contributor’s right to withdraw the contributor's work from submission. Editorial SupportWe want to publish your expertise so that SCUPers can put it to use. Editorial support is offered to authors as needed. Authors are welcome to submit outlines and early drafts to the managing editor for consultation. Manuscripts not submitted for blind peer review will be informally reviewed by peers, and feedback provided to authors. All papers will undergo professional copyediting at SCUP’s expense.
