Strengthening Our Capacity to Serve –
An Update on the KYCPE Summit of 2010

In September of 2010, the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education sponsored a summit entitled: “Strengthening Our Capacity to Serve: A Summit on Productivity, Efficiency, and Cost Containment”. This conference brought together higher education leaders from across the state as well as national consultants and presented a series of white papers and discussion notes by members of various institutional and professional organizations related to increasing productivity, efficiency, and containing costs in the areas of academic affairs and student services, business operations, human resource management, and facilities. As an update to the summit, this conference sponsored by the SCUP Southern Region and hosted by the University of Louisville will explore:

• How have things begun to change across the state as institutions are forced to do more with less?
• How has the University of Louisville served as an example for the state in implementing sustainable initiatives?
• What impact will international sustainability initiatives have on Kentucky higher education?
• What kinds of innovative financing and alternative delivery of education might be in the future for higher education?

Join us as we hear from the leadership of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, the University of Louisville, a national expert in sustainability, and a national expert in strategic and financial planning for higher education. Following the conference, there will be an optional brief tour of some of a recent significant project on the University of Louisville campus, the Center for Translational Research.
