Thank you to everyone who attended this conference. Conference proceedings are now available. Conference ThemeUniversity Presidents across the country have signed the Presidents Climate Commitment (PCC) embracing a challenge to take steps toward carbon neutrality on their campuses. For each institution this includes initiating the development of a comprehensive plan and creating institutional structures to guide the refinement, management, and implementation of that plan. PurposeJoin us at the University of Colorado-Boulder and you will...
What is a realistic time frame for achieving specific goals? Plan now to attend and enjoy this opportunity to meet and learn from your regional colleagues and explore Boulder, CO. Opening Plenary SpeakerWendell Brase What Will It Really Take to Achieve Carbon-Neutrality? Carbon-neutrality is a taller order than many people realize and requires far more than simply redoubling our efforts. Wealthy universities are taking the easy way out by buying emissions credits rather than taking direct actions to reduce or offset their carbon emissions. Although emissions credits will no doubt play some role in achieving carbon-neutral, our primary intent should be direct action. We need to think big in terms of plans, investments, funding strategies, new business concepts, and comprehensive efforts, because the goal is immense, especially for research institutions. It may be the most challenging goal we ever face in our career. Reason for Change in Opening Plenary SpeakerWe would like to thank Wendell Brase for converting his previously scheduled concurrent session to our opening plenary after we discovered that Greg Franta has gone missing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Greg's family as the search continues. If you have any information visit www.rmi.org for complete information.
