Planning for . . . the Customer!?

Your Invitation to Attend

Looking for that great conference, with a meaningful topic in a special city? This year's SCUP Pacific Regional Conference, March 20-22, in Portland, Oregon, is just such an event and we cordially invite you to participate in "Planning for . . . the Customer!?."

Read the mission statement of most colleges or universities and you'll see that the core purpose is to provide students with a quality education, and to do so in a positive learning environment. This suggests then, that the most important customer in higher education is the student. On the surface this seems obvious, but is it in fact the case, and should it be? The conference will explore the many constituencies that influence campus planning, and ask the question, "Who is the customer--students, faculty, staff, alumni, business, the community--and how do we prioritize and/or manage multiple customers?"

In addition to this year's outstanding concurrent sessions, workshops, and the introduction of a smaller focus group session, we anticipate an exceptional program of events, tours and conversations stimulated by the offerings of this intriguing city. There will be optional tours exploring Portland's urban higher education campuses, sustainable campuses, neighborhood campuses, and campuses in relation to the idyllic landscape. There will also be an optional walking tour featuring Portland's historic architecture.

Plenty of networking opportunities will be available including two receptions--our opening event at the Oregon Historical Society, and a Monday night pre-dinner gathering at the Pacific Northwest College of Art.

Our conference location is the strategically situated Hilton Portland & Executive Tower which is in the heart of downtown city center's financial and entertainment districts and within blocks of Portland's hippest restaurants and upscale shopping.

The conference planning committee has done a superb job preparing for what we believe will be the most provocative and interesting SCUP regional conference. We look forward to seeing you in Portland!
