The Community Connection: Developing Integrated Campus Partnerships

Increasingly, colleges and universities are collaborating with local community and industry leaders to create facilities and programs to help meet tomorrow’s workforce requirements, promote economic development, and improve the connection to the community. From non-profit incubator space, to centers for advanced research and development, to off-campus program spaces that activate the urban core, new facilities are being developed throughout the region that make the campus community connection real.

This SCUP one-day program will explore current projects in local institutions that are addressing collaboration and partnership. The conference will be held at the new Institute for the Culinary Arts on the historic Fort Omaha campus of Metropolitan Community College. The program will feature representatives from regional colleges and universities and their architects and planners, who will discuss new and future projects to illustrate the value of the campus community connection. Each of these projects integrates the goals for leveraging the resources of both campus and community.
