Step I Scholarships

Step I scholarships are available for institutional conference attendees who plan to attend both Step I and the SCUP 2012 North Central Regional Conference. If this applies to you, use this printable registration form (PDF) to register and apply for the scholarship—do not register online. Institutional attendees must register and pay for the North Central Regional Conference to qualify for a Step I scholarship.

Professional Development Assistance Scholarship

The Society for College and University Planning recognizes that professional development and travel budgets are being reduced or cut at many institutions. We believe that during tough times it is more important than ever to invest in education and to reach out to colleagues to help find solutions. To that end, we are offering a program to provide a limited number of SCUP Professional Development Assistance scholarships to help underwrite costs associated with participating in SCUP regional events.

The North Central Region will award scholarships up to $500 towards registration and/or travel expenses for the SCUP 2012 North Central Regional Conference on October 7–10 in Urbana-Champaign. Click here for more information on the SCUP 2012 North Central Regional Conference.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the SCUP North Central Regional Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate/provide the following:

Required:

  • Currently working at (or attending, if a student) a higher education institution
  • Demonstrate financial need (one paragraph self-statement)
  • Explain desired benefits from attendance (one paragraph)
  • Outline the money required for you to be able to attend, such as registration fee, travel, hotel, etc. $500 maximum award.

Optional: A brief statement of support by the institution, such as a supervisor (one paragraph).

Application Review

The SCUP North Central Regional Council will review applications. Award recipients may elect whether to (1) receive the awards directly or (2) have them paid to their institution.

Notification of Selection

Applicants will receive notification of their selection on or before, August 20, 2012.
