Continuing Education UnitsFrequently Asked QuestionsWhy don't you offer ASLA, PMI, or other types of credit? We would love to offer credits from organizations beyond those we already do, like the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) or the Project Management Institute (PMI). However, each accrediting organization has its own set of rules, regulations, and tasks necessary to provide their types of credit. This translates into more behind-the-scenes work for staff, and right now, we do not have the administrative capacity to offer other credit types beyond those we have now. Fortunately, many accrediting organizations will allow their members to self-report credits using a certificate from the event. If you need credits from an organization other than the AIA, AICP, GBCI, or NASBA, please record your attendance at each event you attend, and you will receive a certificate you can use to self-report your credits. How do I record my attendance at a conference or event?Annual, international conference and multi-day regional conferences: QR codes.* One-day regional events, webinars, and most planning institutes: paper sign-in sheets. *Paper sign-in sheets will be available for those who do not have a mobile device. What are QR codes and how are you using them?QR codes are an exciting new way to record your attendance at the annual, international conference and multi-day regional conferences. Not only are they a more green option than traditional paper sign-in forms, they also require less time-consuming data entry. This means we can process your attendance and provide you with your certificate more quickly after an event! A QR code is simply a link that allows you to easily visit webpages on your mobile device. Instead of typing a URL into your mobile device's browser, you scan the QR code to access the webpage. Our QR codes take you to a session's hub page where you can submit a session evaluation, access handout materials (if available), and record your CEU attendance. How do I use QR codes to record my CEU attendance? Before the event, be sure to download a barcode reader from your mobile device's app store. Most barcode readers are free and easy to use. QR codes will be printed in the program. Each session has a unique QR code. To record your attendance for a session, you must scan the QR code during a specific time period—10 minutes before the session and through the end of the session. If you miss this time period, email the CEU contact listed in the program and request your attendance recorded for the session missed. Instructions for Recording Attendance with QR Codes
What happens after I record my attendance at an event?SCUP uses a database to manage CEU attendance records. All QR code attendance records are automatically entered into the database. After the event, SCUP removes any duplicate or error QR code records. Paper sign-in form attendance must be manually entered into the database. Depending on the size of the event, this can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. After all CEU data is entered in the database, SCUP reports AIA member attendance to the AIA. AIA members who recorded their attendance and provided us with their AIA IDs will see SCUP event credits on their AIA transcripts. (Not sure if you've given us your AIA ID? Check your My SCUP Demographic Info page) Certificates are automatically created with CEU information from the database and, when ready, are available on each attendee's My SCUP CEU Certificates page. SCUP sends an email to attendees with certificates are ready. Will you report my attendance to the accrediting organization?Following the guidelines of each accrediting organization, SCUP only reports credits to the AIA for AIA members. If you are an AIA member, SCUP must have your AIA ID on file or else we cannot report your credits. Please check your My SCUP Demographic Info page to see if we have your AIA ID. Non-AIA members, along with those seeking AICP, GBCI, and NASBA credits, must self-report credits earned. SCUP will provide certificates that can verify attendance. If you need credits from an organization that is not the AIA, AICP, GBCI, or NASBA, please check and see if that organization will allow you to self-report credits. If you can self-report credits, be sure to record your attendance at each session you attend so you can receive your certificate verifying your attendance. When will I receive my certificate?Certificates will be ready after all attendance data is entered into our database. Depending on the size of the event, this can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. SCUP will email attendees when certificates are ready. Attendees can access their certificates from their My SCUP My CEU Certificates page. |
