The eight chapters in this book reflect Dober's categories of the elements of campus image and design. Within each chapter, each page displays two campus scenes, chosen for thought-provoking comparison—and a brief comment from Dober regarding each. For each image, there is a link to the Campus Image and Identity area of gallery.scup.org, SCUP's online photo-sharing space. There, you will find a view of the image and the ability to comment. Please do. You can also upload and share your own iconic campus scenes, with your own commentary. On that page, you will also find a link that permits you to download and use the original image files in their full size.

Richard P. Dober—Senior consultant at Dober, Lidsky, Mathey, and Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in campus planning and facility planning services. Trained at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, Dober has served as a campus planning and design consultant to over 345 colleges and universities worldwide as to foundations, government agencies, the World Bank, and UNSECO. He is a founder of the Society of College and University Planning and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
