Name:Membership Committee Member - Mid-Atlantic
Description:Role: Provide the SCUP Board of Directors with advice and recommendations regarding policies and strategies relating to membership recruitment and retention. The membership committee consists of five regional membership chairs (one from each region) plus a committee chair (who serves on the board) and a vice chair (who has been approved by the board to become a board member when the chair's term of service ends). Each regional membership chair can name a vice chair to serve during the last year of their term of service, and each regional membership chair can form a regional membership committee. Responsibilities: Assists SCUP leaders and staff by: Providing the board of directors with recommendations on dues strategies and membership structure; Recruiting and retaining members at the regional level; Welcoming new members and serving as a resource for them, especially during their first year; Introducing members to one another and encouraging local interaction among members; Identifying and encouraging new regional volunteers; Attending and participating in regional council meetings, regional conferences and the annual conference; Helping to raise awareness of SCUP conferences, professional development opportunities, publications, and PHE journal subscriptions to members and nonmembers in their regions; Identifying the interests and needs of members and nonmember customers in their regions; and Providing the board and staff with feedback from members.
