Name:

Planning Academy Member (Reviews Annual Conference Proposals)

Description:

SCUP has four planning academies with a cadre of about 90 volunteers. These valuable content experts review concurrent session proposal submissions to annual, international conference.

Most academy members also choose to contribute more broadly to the body of planning knowledge throughout the year, including participating in an annual survey of trends which informs an executive brief presented yearly to the SCUP Board of Directors.

Membership

Academy members must be current members of SCUP. General academy membership is maintained through active participation in the annual conference proposal review process each October. Proposals are assigned based on member expertise. Not all volunteers will be selected for academy membership. Member selection is based upon expertise needs in different subject areas.

Responsibilities

New academy members must attend a brief orientation conference call prior to the October review period. After we have closed the call for proposals on October 1, we will process and assign proposals to members using their self-indicated areas of expertise as a guide. Members will receive their assignment of 8-12 proposals around the second week of October, and will have three weekends to read and evaluate each proposal. Proposals are assigned and reviews are submitted online.

After the review process, planning academy members will have other opportunities for participation, including contribution to the Planning Academy Report to the Board.
