Founded in 1789, Georgetown University is the nation’s oldest Catholic and Jesuit university. Today, Georgetown is a major international research university, located in one of Washington, DC’s oldest and most well-known neighborhoods. Join us for a tour of the university’s historic core with its signature building, Healy Hall, as well as recent projects including the newly renovated home for the School of Nursing and Health Studies.

George Washington University

Founded in 1821, The George Washington University (GW) is the largest institution of higher education in the nation’s capital, located in the heart of the city. GW has nine major schools, offering hundreds of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. We invite you to tour its new health and wellness center, an award-winning renovation and addition to the student center, a new housing/classroom/office mixed use complex, and recent Media and Public Affairs Building with television broadcast studios. It will also include the Law School’s newly renovated moot court room, a state-of-the-art facility that provides law students, lawyers, and judges with a unique opportunity to explore the ways in which technology can be used to enhance litigation practice.

Combined Tour—Catholic University of America and American University

The Catholic University of America was established by the American bishops as a graduate and research center, the only national Catholic center of learning in the United States with a papal charter. The university began offering undergraduate programs in 1904. Come and tour its new student union building. American University was chartered in 1893 by an Act of the United States Congress as a national university with a mission to prepare the public servants of the future to effectively serve their country. This tour will feature several recent renovation projects in facilities around the main campus quad, including the business school, student center and academic building. Bring your laptop and log onto AU’s new wireless network from the quad!

University of Maryland

College Park is home to the flagship campus of the University of Maryland (UM) system. With a current enrollment of almost 35,000, UM is a major public research university located on 1,200 acres of rolling land along the Baltimore-Washington, DC high-tech corridor. Take a tour of some of its newest facilities, including the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, a recreation center, Comcast Arena, the Computer Science Instructional Center, and Van Munching Hall, home to the Robert H. Smith School of Business and the School of Public Affairs. Also see a new student housing complex developed by a private developer on campus, the topic of a Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference concurrent session two years ago when it was in the design phase.
