SCUP’s 49th Annual, International Conference
“Plan for Transformation” | July 12–16, 2014 | Pittsburgh, PA
Pittsburgh!
Come to Pittsburgh - a city that has had a remarkable environmental renaissance, a top-10 city for certified green building space, and a city ripe with natural and cultural amenities. President Obama described Pittsburgh as "...a world-class city...It has transformed itself...and serves as a model for turning the page to a 21st century economy."
Pittsburgh has reinvented itself with one of the most dramatic environmental transformations in the world. Over the past half-century, this one-time poster child for industrial pollution has emerged a clean and green city. In fact, this former "Smoky City" now ranks among the top 10 cities in the United States for certified green building space. Pittsburgh has more than 30 certified green buildings including the LEED Gold certification of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center where we will be meeting. The convention center was the first LEED certified convention center in the world. Pittsburgh has become one of the most popular outdoor recreational areas in the eastern United States and has become one of the best examples of rails-to-trails conversions and is part of the Great Allegheny Passage linking Pittsburgh to Washington D.C.
Learn more about what to see and do by visiting the Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Bureau website.
