Car Rentals Driving Directions To Hilton San Diego Bayfront Public Transportation The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is a bus and light-rail (trolley) system that travels throughout San Diego. Fares are $2.25 USD one-way for bus service and $2.50 USD one-way for trolley service. Bus transit is available to/from the airport and downtown San Diego on MTS Route 992, which stops at Terminals 1 and 2 and the Commuter Terminal, and operates 5:00 AM–11:30 PM, every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays. The trolley does not stop at the airport, but Bus Route 992 connects with the Orange trolley line at America Plaza station.
