
SCUP-48 Ideas-to-Action Sessions Call for ProposalsThe Call for Proposals is Now Closed.The deadline was Monday, October 1, 2012, at 11:59 PM EST. Thank you for your submissions this year! Ideas-to-Action sessions—learning labs, team learning, and skill sessions. Ideas-to-Action sessions are an exciting new program format for SCUP's annual conference. On Wednesday, attendees will focus on their own, or their team's, professional development interests and needs. How can you improve the effectiveness of an interdisciplinary campus team? What tangible skill or process can you teach in 60 minutes? We seek proposals for interactive sessions:
These sessions will be offered on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 8:30 am to noon. All Ideas-to-Action session presenters must agree to register and pay the registration fee for either a one-day or full conference registration. Ideas-to-Action Session Proposal Guidelines and Submission RequirementsNote: Below are the exact questions we ask you on the online proposal form. Read them now and start preparing your proposal. Proposals must be submitted online through SCUP's website. You will be asked to respond to the following items. Prepare well-developed and thorough responses to optimize the scoring of your proposal. Below are the exact questions from the proposal form. Please use them to prepare your responses. 1. Ideas-to-Action Type: Please choose one of the two options to describe the type of Ideas-to-Action session you will deliver: ____ My session is designed for interdisciplinary campus teams, to bring ideas and tools that improve overall team effectiveness, or build shared knowledge (60-minute, or 120-minute session) ____ My session will teach a unique skill: ideas and tools which improve one’s organizational, IT, or strategic planning knowledge (60-minute session) 2. Presentation Title: Accurately reflect the learning focus of your session (10-word maximum). 3. Identification of All Presenters: Full contact information including name, title, address, telephone, fax, and email address. 4. Biography: For each presenter, describe the relevance of her/his expertise to the presentation topic or related sessions in higher education planning, plus presenting experience (150-word maximum). 5. Session Abstract: The session description that SCUP will publish (a maximum of 80 words that concisely describes the value of the concept, idea or approach you are sharing). 6. Application-focused Learning Outcomes: Specifically describe four (4) learning outcomes that describe how participants can use the content from your session, or what they will be able to produce as a result of attending your session. The focus here is on what the learner will gain, not what you want to tell them. Note: Your learning outcomes will be published with your session abstract; attendees evaluate your presentation by how well learning outcomes were met. 8. Session Organization and Content: Clearly identify the topic, presenter, and timeframe for each segment. IMPORTANT: include the times you have set aside for participant interaction (Q&A, exercises, roundtable discussion, etc.). RESOURCE: See examples of outlines from last year's accepted concurrent session proposals. Coming soon! 9. Instructional Method: Which interactive methods will you use to best enhance active participant learning in your session? NOTE: We encourage highly interactive sessions that go beyond Q&A. How will your session offer a unique and engaging learning experience?

Note: A list will be provided on the online proposal form. 12. Room Set: What type of room set would you prefer to best enhance participant learning in your session?
