Presenter Registration Concurrent Session Proposal Guidelines and Submission RequirementsNote: Below are the exact questions we ask you on the online proposal form. Read them now and start preparing your proposal. Proposals must be submitted online through SCUP's website. You will be asked to respond to the following items. Prepare well-developed and thorough responses to optimize the scoring of your proposal. Reference the examples we have provided you for learning outcomes and outlines. Below are the exact questions from the proposal form. Please use them to prepare your responses. 1. Presentation Title: Accurately reflect the learning focus of your session (10-word maximum). Create a title that makes the reader want to learn more about your session. 2. Identification of All Presenters: Full contact information including name, title, address, telephone, fax, and email address. 3. Biography: For each presenter, describe the relevance of her/his expertise to the presentation topic or related sessions in higher education planning, plus presenting experience (150-word maximum). 4. Session Abstract: Concisely describe your presentation and what attendees will learn (80-word maximum). Note: This is the session description that SCUP will publish. 5. Requested Length of Session:
Why 90 Minutes?: If you request 90 minutes, why do you need a longer session? Examples: Panel discussions, debates, role-playing, group activities. 6. Application-focused Learning Outcomes: Specifically describe four (4) learning outcomes that describe how participants can use the content from your session, or what they will be able to know or do as a result of attending your session. The focus here is on what the learner will gain, not what you want to tell them. Note: Your learning outcomes will be published with your session abstract; attendees evaluate your presentation by how well learning outcomes were met. RESOURCE: Important: How to write great learning outcomes (and meet submission requirements). 7. Session Organization and Content: Clearly identify the topic, presenter, and timeframe for each segment. IMPORTANT: include the times you have set aside for active learning and participant interaction (Q&A, exercises, roundtable discussion, etc.). RESOURCE: See examples of outlines in proposal samples below. 8. Instructional Method: Which interactive methods will you use to best enhance active participant learning in your session? NOTE: We encourage highly interactive sessions that go beyond Q&A. How will your session offer a unique and engaging learning experience?
