Note from a webcast participant:
"Again, SCUP has created a forum for sharing information that is timely, leading edge and in a format that blends technical discussion with hands on examples. Our praise to Western Michigan University for their leadership taking the initiative to document their entire campus into their “Digital Filing cabinets”. Our company is 100% BIM in design and construction documents, yet we learned several things on this webinar that will help us better understand how the institutions use the models we create."

Is your institution taking full advantage of BIM?
As Building Information Modeling (BIM) becomes more prevalent, universities are asking about the benefit and use of the models after occupancy. But, to harness the power of BIM through the building lifecycle, a better understanding of the process is needed.
This interactive webcast will provide a brief overview of BIM, and then proceed quickly into specific recommendations and observations, including an overview from Western Michigan University as an example of how the technology was used after construction in managing an eight million square foot campus.
The presenters will discuss their compromises and project successes. Video demonstrations will illustrate key points.

- Understand the application of Building Information Modeling to lifecycle maintenance practices.
- Interpret the actions of a peer university and evaluate their application to your own maintenance processes.
- Apply these understandings to your current contractual deliverables to look for areas of synergy and disconnect.
- Formulate a plan of attack to revise your current deliverables and allow your facility to benefit from the practices and recommendations in this session.

- University planners—better understand the potential for consistent information flow starting in planning
- Design and construction professionals who want to understand the construction process role in information transfer to facility maintenance
- Facilities management professionals—improve facility operations through more consistent data delivery from planning and construction
- Anyone interested in Building Information Modeling

I. Introduction of the current opportunities for increased efficiencies in lifecycle facility maintenance based on data from the National Institutes of Standards and Technology.
II. Definition of Building Information Modeling (BIM) specific to lifecycle practices.
