University Intergenerational Living/Learning CentersInnovative Campus Communities
Presenter(s): Peter J. Cornell, United Development Corporation; Michael Scott Rudden, The Saratoga Associates; Sanford J. Zimmerman, University of Albany
University of Albany envisions an intergenerational residential lifecare community¹ for undergraduate/graduate students, student families, daycare center, alumni, and retired faculty sharing common social, educational, and recreational amenities. After selecting sites, forging private partnerships, hiring designers, seeking state land transfer approval, addressing environmental habitats, and securing finances, construction began for Phase One: 1,200-bed undergraduate residences for occupancy in Fall 2002. Stakeholders will share and solicit ideas and lessons learned relevant to institutions considering a similar challenge. |

Whenever we can, we not only provide streaming audio but the slide show or visual presentation used by the presenters, as well. |
