Becoming Distinctive: Pathways to the Development of a Distinctive Institutional Identity
Presenter(s): Andrew P. Codling, UNITEC Institute of Technology; Jill M. Yielder, UNITEC Institute of Technology
The session will describe two ways in which the presenters¹ institution went about developing commitment to become a new and distinctive university of technology¹ within a relatively traditional New Zealand higher education system. The first was a campus-wide staff consultation process to identify key characteristics of a university of technology. The second involved asking academic program leaders about domains of learning in professional education programs. Both projects contributed to the vision of a university of technology, and generated a high level of commitment to that vision from staff. |
