Evolution of a Campus Planning Framework‹University of Alabama at Birmingham, A 20-Year Retrospective
Presenter(s): John T. Byrd, University of Alabama at Birmingham; Sheila M. Chaffin, University of Alabama at Birmingham; Joel Putterman, Hellmuth Obata + Kassabaum Inc
The master planning system for the University of Alabama at Birmingham is a dynamic and flexible framework that has enabled the university to achieve its goals over the last 20 years. The initial planning process included comprehensive analyses that facilitated an understanding of requirements, conditions, and surrounding area characteristics, forming a basis for future development planning. Subsequent five year updates have utilized the original planning system as a framework to successfully manage growth and change at the university. |
