Healthy Families Center: A Collaborative Campus Facility Serving the Educational Needs of the Community

Presenter(s): Barbara Bishop, Northeast Pennsylvania Women's Health Alliance; Sr. Mary Reap, Marywood University; Barbara R. Sadowski, Marywood University
Convener: David Salazar, Claremont Graduate University

This session describes a case study of a unique collaboration between Marywood University and local hospitals which formed the Women¹s Health Alliance. The session will cover the vision creating the alliance, problems encountered and resolved, and success in providing educational programming for the community. Shared staffing and funding space arrangements culminated in grant funding for a new facility. Programming and design considerations in building the Healthy Families Center housing both the Alliance and an academic department will conclude the session.

This knowledge resource from SCUP is a concurrent session presented at the Society's thirty-seventh annual, international conference and Expo, SCUP–37, in San Diego, CA (USA), in July of 2002.

Audiocassettes of this and other SCUP–37 sessions are available for purchase here.

Due to our concern for the privacy of members of the face-to-face audiences at SCUP–37, our digital archives of SCUP–37 presentations end at the beginning of the question and answer portion of each session. Whenever we can, we not only provide streaming audio but the slide show or visual presentation used by the presenters, as well.
