Design/Build is an emerging and growing force in the world of higher education facilities planning. Perhaps you are challenged by and unsure of working with this project-delivery strategy and want solid information about this concept that boasts of savings in time and cost. If you are already familiar with the concept of D/B and are looking for help in taking that "lonely first step" and embarking on your initial D/B project, this workshop will build your knowledge of the basics. D/B will help you to differentiate between the D/B derivations that are most commonly used and understand the pros and cons of each different type. You will learn how to successfully undertake a D/B project, with emphasis on the need to clearly define the project criteria and what should be in the building program. James A. Broaddus is president of Broaddus & Associates and is the former president and CEO of the Design/Build Institute of America. Douglas H. Lowe is president of Facility Programming and Consulting. His expertise is in the area of facility programming, and he has prepared two guidebooks on the topic. |
