Where Few Have Gone Before: Prioritizing Academic Programs for Resource Reallocation
Presenter(s): Ray Reutzel and Michael D. Richards, Southern Utah University
For its financial future and strategic position Southern Utah University has engaged a process of program prioritization and resource reallocation adapted from Robert Dickeson's work on prioritizing programs and services. The process, both wrenching and jubilant, has involved data analysis, assessments of internal and external demand, judgments on program centrality to mission, and analysis of strategic opportunities. The presentation summarizes the process in practice, and it cites lessons learned in this uncommon response for planned institutional change. |
