Registration is now Closed, please register on site
For all of us, planning in higher education has evolved into a dynamic, integrative field responsive to the changing needs of higher education. An awareness of our ever-changing environment is critical and the sharing of experiences among our colleagues is essential. It is with this in mind that we have planned the SCUP Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference for April 6 through 8 at the Georgetown University Conference Center in Washington, DC.
The conference will begin and end with plenary sessions. Keynote speakers have been carefully selected to address our theme: the balance of funding and mission in higher education. Dr. Anthony Ceddia, President of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania will deliver the opening
plenary Sunday, which will be followed by a reception. Mr. Anirban Basu, Chairman and Chief Economist, of Optimal Solutions Group and past Director of Applied Economics & Senior Economist for the research and consulting arm of Towson University will conclude the conference at the closing plenary on Tuesday.
The program committee has designed an outstanding program that will touch on a wide variety of the issues facing us in higher education. Scheduled concurrent sessions address topics such as: innovative fundraising models, successes in research grants and funding, successful capital campaigns, economic development as a funding strategy, accreditation, strategic planning, effective collaborations, master planning, achieving LEED certification, and technology applications.
In response to evaluations of previous conferences, we have again scheduled campus tours during all three days of our conference. In addition to a preconference tour, we have tours planned for both Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Join these tours representing a cross-section of our nation’s most prestigious universities, where you can see and learn the diverse approaches taken to create state-of-the-art facilities. Among others, tours feature facilities for student recreation, media and television broadcasting, student housing, a sports arena, a technology-rich courtroom, library, business, health sciences, as well as a diverse group of academic buildings.
Please join us in Washington in April, meet with your colleagues, and share and expand your knowledge of planning.
