How to Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit

Currency

Find out what the current exchange rate is.

Canadian Currency is the dollar, which is divided into 100 cents. There
are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 1,000 dollar bills. One and Two dollar bills
have been replaced by coins, sometimes referred to as "Loonies" (the
bird on the $1 is a loon) and "Twonies" ($2). Smaller coins are 1, 5,
10, and 25 cent pieces.

It's easy to exchange foreign currency in Montréal. You can cash
traveller's checks at banks and exchange offices which are common.
Banking and credit cards are also welcome. US currency is accepted in
most situations, but change will be given in Canadian currency.

Taxes

There are two applicable taxes in Quebec: a federal Goods and Services
Tax (GST) of 5% and a Provincial Tax (TVQ) of 7.5%. A non-refundable 3%
accommodation tax is also in effect in Montréal.

Time Zone

Montréal observes Daylight Savings Time and is in the Eastern Time Zone.
The time difference between Eastern Time and Greenwich Mean Time in July
is less four hours. Noon Greenwich time is 8 AM Montréal time.

Tips

It is customary to tip restaurant waiters, taxi drivers, and hairdressers
15% of the bill, before taxes. Hotel porters generally receive $1 per
bag. In restaurants review the bill carefully, some restaurants
automatically include 15% gratuity.
