Continuing Education Credits at SCUP–43

For SCUP—43 in Montréal, SCUP is a registered provider of continuing education for the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). Please read below for details pertaining to the participation in these programs.

American Institute of Architects (AIA)

What SCUP—43 programs are eligible for AIA continuing education credit?

All of the SCUP—43 educational programs offer continuing education credit: the workshops, concurrent sessions, plenary sessions, and some of the campus tours. Each 60-minute program will be equal to one learning unit (LU). Sessions that are 90-minutes long are equal to 1.5 LUs. For workshops, please refer to them individually for their eligible LUs.

How do I report credit for programs I attend at the conference?

When you arrive at the conference registration desk, please pick up one of the self–report forms (Conference Session Participation Form C–1) to keep with you and to report which educational sessions you attend.

Before you depart the conference, please return your AIA report form back to the registration desk and hand it to a SCUP staff member. If you are unable to give it directly to a registration desk staff member, you can fax the entire form to the SCUP office immediately following the conference at 734.998.6532. SCUP will report your credits back to AIA within two weeks of the conference.

If you are attending any of the SCUP preconference workshops, you will be able to report your workshop attendance by signing the form in the session room. You need to attend the entire workshop to receive credit for that program.

New this year!
National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA)

The Society for College and University Planning is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, 150 Fourth Avenue North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN, 37219-2417. Web site: www.nasba.org.

Registration with NASBA is new this year, and the awarding of CPEs for certified public accountants (CPAs) currently applies just to SCUP's annual, international conference.

What SCUP—43 programs are eligible for CPEs?

The following SCUP—43 educational programs are eligible for CPEs: preconference workshops, concurrent sessions, and plenary sessions. Each 60-minute program will be equal to one CPE credit. Sessions that are 90-minutes long are equal to 1.5 CPEs. The highest number of CPE credits possible by attending a concurrent session in each time block is 10. For workshops, please refer to them individually for their eligible CPEs.

There is no prerequisite knowledge or advance preparation required to attend these educational sessions. The program level is basic. The maximum number of CPEs possible for concurrent sessions is 10 credits.

How do I report credit for programs I attend at the conference?

Each workshop and concurrent session convener will have a sign-in and sign-out report roster by the door in session rooms for concurrent sessions, workshops, and plenary sessions. To receive credit for any of these programs, CPAs are required to sign-in and sign-out as they attend each educational session. SCUP staff will add up the amount of credit earned by each CPA in each session to ensure the correct amount of credit is awarded.

Once the conference is over, certificates will be produced and mailed to each CPA who attended the conference. This will include the total numbers of hours of educational program attendance and a record of attendance in each of the fields of study.

This procedure complies with NASBA's reporting requirements of SCUP.

For more information regarding administrative policies such as complaint resolution, please contact SCUP at 734.998.6532. All complaints regarding CPEs will be forwarded to the CPE administrator, Kathleen Benton, (734.998.6966) for resolution.

If you have questions, or need further information, please contact Kathy Benton, Associate Director of Education & Product Development, at 734.998.6966, or email Kathy.benton@scup.org.
