SCUP—43 Convener

What does a session convener do?

They assist the presenters during their presentations and facilitate the smooth running of their session. They serve an important role and contribute to the quality of the educational sessions and the overall success of the conference. Conveners are listed in the final conference program beneath the session they convene. See the specific responsibilities of a session convener below. There is a session convener at every concurrent session.

Responsibilities of a Session Convener

  • Contact your session's presenters ahead of time to introduce yourself
  • Arrive at the session door 10 minutes before the session begins
  • Open and close the session on time
  • Introduce the presenter(s)
  • Moderate questions and answers at the request of presenter(s)
  • Important: Set continuing education report forms out and collect at the end of the session.
  • Distribute and collect session evaluation forms
  • There will be a convener orientation at the conference on Sunday, July 20 in room 510b at 11:00 AM in the convention center. Hope to see you there.

SCUP is unable to extend complimentary registrations to conveners. Conveners are required to register for the conference.
