Achieving Integrated Workplace Through Learning Laboratories: A Government / University / Corporate Partnership

Presenter(s): Diane L. Hartley, Spaulding & Slye Colliers; Kevin Kampschroer, U.S. General Services Administration; Vivian Loftness, Carnegie Mellon University
Convener: Barrie L. Dubray, University of Saskatchewan

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Public Buildings Service serves as the primary landlord for executive branch agencies, housing over 1.1 million employees in an inventory of over 334 million square feet. Challenged by evolving technology, high churn rates, and the competition to attract and retain workers, the GSA has partnered with other government agencies, universities, and corporate partners to embark on a workplace research program. It will focus on the relationships between workplace and productivity; kinds of space and longer-term costs; and the future. Learn about this program, the partnering process and the research results to date.

This knowledge resource from SCUP is a concurrent session presented at the Society's thirty-seventh annual, international conference and Expo, SCUP–37, in San Diego, CA (USA), in July of 2002.

Audiocassettes of this and other SCUP–37 sessions are available for purchase here.

Due to our concern for the privacy of members of the face-to-face audiences at SCUP–37, our digital archives of SCUP–37 presentations end at the beginning of the question and answer portion of each session. Whenever we can, we not only provide streaming audio but the slide show or visual presentation used by the presenters, as well.
